Drum Nature offers drumming workshops for both primary and secondary schools. The aim of the workshops is to give students an accessible, engaging and confidence building experience of playing music together. All drums are provided with one for each student and full participation throughout.
In a primary school workshop the students get an opportunity to play a number of different drums and percussion instruments. The emphasis is on listening to each other, exploring the instruments and creating a collective rhythm. In secondary schools the workshops are based around traditional West African rhythms building up to a whole piece that the group can play at the end.
A number of sessions can be done in a day working with class sized groups.
Neil Dowling has been drumming for over 40 years and has run these popular workshops in schools throughout Ireland since 2006.
