Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again

This exhibition draws on the rich archive that Heaney and his family donated to the National Library of Ireland in 2011. It is divided into four sections, Excavations, Creativity, Conscience and Marvels and follows the journey of Heaney's life from his childhood to his later years and legacy. For primary schools, we offer online guided tours that link to the English, Geography and History curriculum strands. We also facilitate online Creative Writing Workshops that introduce students to Seamus Heaneys poetry, general poetry techniques and also encourages them to respond creatively to his work, through writing or drawing. For secondary school students, we provide online Close Reading Poetry Workshops. This workshop explores poems from the curriculum, with a focus on hand-written drafts; Heaneys writing process and the historical context that led him to write these poems. Students are encouraged to share their opinions on the poetry of Heaney. Online guided tours are also available. If you would like to book in with us please send an email to heaneyexhibition@nli.ie, call 01 6706153 or text 087 721 3436/087 361 3344.
