Castletown House

Castletown House is one of the finest 18th century Palladian style mansions in Ireland and in recent years it has undergone major restoration work. It is one of Irelands largest homes of its kind. A visit to Castletown is a unique experience and enhances school activities and studies such as history, art and physical education. The Castletown House tour takes roughly 1 hour to complete (perfect even on a rainy day) and it also ties in with the Green Schools initiative. As part of an active school week you could plan an outdoor activity in the grounds of Castletown House and Estate. The Castletown Estate is open to the public under the care of the office of public works and is open for you to come to enjoy and explore one of the most interesting periods in Irish history. Children of both primary schools and secondary schools will be delighted to dress up in period costumes and take part in our Tours for schools, nature trails, and school workshops. School tour groups are Free of Charge. Dublin tours often include a trip to Castletown as it is only 20 minutes from the city centre.
